Educational Facilities Professional (EFP) Certification Training and Testing
Through a collaborative relationship with APPA – Leadership in Educational Facilities, VSPMA attendees can earn the internationally recognized Educational Facilities Professional (EFP) certification through the training and testing program to be held on October 16 and 17. This will be the first time that the certification program has been offered to public school facility professionals. A four-hour preparatory training course will be conducted on Saturday, October 16 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the conference hotel, and the three-hour examination will be conducted on Sunday, October 17 at the same location. Time for the examination will be provided closer to the exam date.
The examination tests for knowledge and understanding in four core facility management areas: Operations and Maintenance; General Administration and Management; Planning, Design, and Construction; and Energy and Utilities. In addition to the examination preparatory course, APPA will provide self study materials to support your ability to prepare for the EFP examination.
APPA is offering the programming at a significantly reduced rate of $250 for the EFP Prep Course, $250 for the EFP Exam, and no cost for the application fee. The typical cost of the programming is a $75 application fee, $495 for the EFP Prep Course and $450 for the EFP Exam.
If you have a college degree and two years of school facilities experience, or a high school diploma and four years of school facilities experience, you will be deemed eligible to participate. Participants will receive their results within approximately six weeks. All individuals passing the EFP examination will be recognized through a congratulations letter from the VSPMA president to the individual and their Superintendent, at the 2011 VSPMA conference, as well as APPA’s Credentialing Board.
